Our Story

About Roots Jiu Jitsu Hawaii

A community-first gym rooted in technical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the spirit of aloha.

Our Mission

Why We Train

Roots Jiu Jitsu Hawaii was built on a simple idea: jiu jitsu is for everyone. We created a space where adults, kids, and families can train together in a welcoming, disciplined, and encouraging environment.

We believe that jiu jitsu is one of the most transformative activities a person can pursue. It builds physical fitness, mental resilience, problem-solving, and genuine confidence — not the kind you talk about, but the kind you earn through showing up and doing the work.

Our goal is to pass that experience on to the Hawaii community. Whether you have never stepped on a mat before or you are looking for a new home gym, you will find your place here.

Our Values

What We Stand For

Discipline

Consistency and commitment are the foundation of growth on and off the mats.

Respect

We treat every training partner, instructor, and visitor with care and dignity.

Community

We are a local gym deeply connected to the people and culture of Hawaii.

Confidence

Real confidence comes from hard work and honest training. We help you earn it.
